If you phone came with the China ROM installed on it and you want to move to the Global ROM you can follow the following guide.

It is not as daunting as it may seem and if you follow this guide step for step you can complete the process in half an hour.

1. Download the latest MiFlash version and install it - Available here

2. Open MiFlash and click on 'Driver', then choose to 'Reinstall' to install the necessary drivers. 

3. Restart your computer.

4. Download a Fastboot ROM from here. You are looking for the correct model number (ie Redmi 4 Prime) and Global Stable (Not China Stable).

5. Unzip the ROM you just downloaded.

6. Connect your phone to your PC

7. Turn your phone off.

8. Hold the Power and Vol+ at the same time until recovery menu comes up. (Don't get scared by all the chinese characters)

9. Select Download on the phone menu

10. The screen should turn black.

11. Open Mi Flash and click the "Select" button.

12. Find the ROM you unzipped earlier and then navigate to the root folder (The one with "flash_all.bat" in it).

13. Refresh Mi Flash.

14. Your device will appear as a COM port. 

15. Select 'clean all' at the bottom of MiFlash

16. Click flash.

17. Wait until MiFlash says "flash done".

18. Disconnect the phone and hold Power until the phone turns on. Done. The first boot takes 10-15 mins.
